About Us
Sorted in Schools is a free financial capability programme fully aligned to the National Curriculum.
Primary/Intermediate school teachers
Our resources support teaching and learning for Years 9-11, but we do have activities and learning experiences suitable for primary and intermediate students.
All our resources are aligned to New Zealand Curriculum Levels 4 - 8 and support the learning areas of English, maths, social sciences, digital technology and health. They have been tested with Year 8 children, so if your students are at that level, they can easily participate.
Get started in 5 easy steps
Create practical lessons and learning experiences by following these easy steps.
- Check the MOE financial capability progressions for Levels 1 - 3 to see what learning outcomes are suitable for your students.
- Watch the video ‘Teachers new to financial capability education’
- Choose your approach. We have teacher planners to implement financial capability using a thematic approach or within a subject area.
- Create a personal profile, which gives you access to a personalised dashboard. It allows you to save and share resources and assists in lesson planning.
- Browse the Sorted themes teaching and learning resources section, or select from the suggested resources below to build a teaching plan.
- Student Starter Pack – provides an introduction and basic instructions to get started.
- Supermarket Shopper – a fun interactive activity that teaches students how to stick to a budget.
- Party Planner - a fun interactive activity that teaches students how to create the ultimate party on a budget while keeping to the specific goals
- Discussion Starters – Identity and Sustainability – tool that generates a range of questions to promote discussion about money/moni.
- Health Resource 1 – Wellbeing – an exercise to learn what financial wellbeing is, what influences it and impacts it.

Confident teachers make confident learners so that’s why we offer a free PLD programme to help build your confidence around this valuable life skill.
