Teacher pathway 3

A life skills approach

Nau mai haere mai

This pathway focuses on how to plan a series of financial capability progressions to extend the knowledge in a life skills learning group, eg, careers or whānau group activities. There are teacher planning templates as well as examples to help you plan an applied learning approach to financial capability education.

This approach can be used in a range of contexts, for example:

  • as part of a cross-curricular learning programme
  • as a learning focus for form groups or whānau classes and option classes where the teacher has expertise in one or more of the chosen learning areas
  • as part of a schoolwide Money Week programme.
